蓝草曲风源自肯塔基山区的音乐属于乡村音乐的一个分支。多声部的演唱与独具一格的班卓琴、曼陀铃琴以及小提琴演奏是其主要的特色。
蓝草音乐新贵“五分镍币克里克”(Nickel Creek)坚持了蓝草音乐中以班卓琴、小提琴以及曼陀铃琴为班底的传统，也没有肆意地加上现在时髦的电气化效果。既不是那种土得掉渣，完全脱离时代的复古翻版，也不是那种如浮萍般无根的所谓新音乐。有朋友说民谣永远走着一条从清新回归清新的道路。
